About Dr. Birch

Dr. Valeria Birch"I was born and raised in Russia in a family of doctors. My father was an anesthesiologist and my mother was a pediatrician at that time. So, when it was time to make a decision about what to do with my life, it didn't take long. I was "inborn" doctor; I could not imagine myself doing something else besides treating people. I received my medical doctorate from Chelyabinsk Medical Academy (Russia) but only when I moved to the United States, my dream could become true. I wanted to become doctor who can cure and make sick people healthy again, who prevents them from getting sick. I decided to become a Naturopathic Doctor. I received my Naturopathic Doctorate from Southwest College of Natural Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. With the new knowledge, I also got a new philosophy and new perspective on health and healing. I was a doctor, but now I became a healer."

"I don't just treat the diseases as I used to, but I make people healthier now."

"Being a mother of two children myself, I have a special interest in pediatric medicine. Thanks to Naturopathic Medicine, I am raising two healthy children. I believe that Naturopathic Medicine can handle childhood illnesses effectively and without side effects and help to ease mothers' worries. There is so much could be done to help children to travel through childhood and adolescence to adulthood with less pain and worries."

Also Dr. Birch thinks that wellbeing and health of the family greatly depends on the wellbeing and health of the mother. That is why there is special accent on importance of women's health.

Dr. Birch is using clinical nutrition, botanical medicine and hydrotherapy to cure a wide variety of health problems. But her favorite modality always has been homeopathy. She preferrs a classical approach but she is always open to learn about new methods.

What to expect during your initial visit? How do I work?

The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease. My style of working is the "old family doctor" style. There was a time when the doctor was treating the whole household, was familiar with the whole family history, particular circumstances, conditions of living and relationships. It helps to see the whole picture and to understand the underlying cause of disease. Treating the whole person, taking in to consideration their surroundings and circumstances instead of just treating the diagnosis with a rigid protocol.

At the present moment, I do home visits. That eliminates the inconvenience of waiting, traveling in traffic, and creates a more relaxing atmosphere. Also, it gives me an opportunity to learn more about the patient. It is very important as with children as well as adults.

The first visit usually lasts approximately two hours. During the initial consultation, family history is taken, diet discussion takes place and I will find out what it is unique about my patient and their condition, match it with a homeopathic remedy that will bring you into balance and support your healing on all levels, physical, mental and emotional. Some times it might take longer to find the right match. That means that I will not prescribe the homeopathic remedy right away, but after studying your case, do it couple days later. Homeopathic remedy is always complimentary during the visit. If it is necessary, I will recommend herbal or nutrition supplements and life style modifications.

My goal is to understand and treat the underlying source of your illness, to treat you as a whole person in the most harmonious and humane way.
